How about a little tease?

Jenny and I have been talking about In His Majesty’s Service for so long, sometimes it’s easy to forget that the rest of the universe has no idea why we’re so in love with our own book, or why you guys are going to feel exactly the same once you get your hands on it.

In that spirit, I am officially introducing a new tradition of teasing our new releases. and when I say “tease,” what I really mean “non-spoilery glimpses at a few of our favorite parts.” But tease is shorter and way sexier, so. There you have it.

And to kick off our first Teaser post, I have three teasers from next week’s release. I probably could have done a dozen of these, but we want to keep some mystery, don’t we?

Ask a silly question…

Anders reached out again, this time to set his glass on the table. Sitting back, he slid his arm along the back of the sofa, fingers brushing the small strip of bare skin above Zach’s shirt collar. His eyes fell to Zach’s mouth for a long second. “I’m glad I’m not the only observant one here.”

“Are you flirting with me, my lord?” Zach turned his body toward Anders and slid closer, leaning across Anders to put his own glass down.

“I most certainly am.” Anders followed Zach as he straightened, and in a heartbeat, was up and straddling Zach, settling his firm ass right on Zach’s lap. “Are you objecting, Zachary?”

Well. think I’m adorable.

“I have a huge shower back home,” Anders murmured, head resting on Zach’s shoulder.

Zach soaped up, rubbing the suds over Anders’s back. “You’ll have to show me sometime.”

“Jackson and Bern might force you to get security clearance, first.”

“Starship captain, remember? I’m sure I’m cleared for your shower.”

“Royal shower.” Anders grinned up at him. “Royal protocol. Any individuals who wish to have extended personal relations with a member of the royal family have to go through it.”

“Through the royal shower? I can get behind that.”

You keep telling yourself that…

Zach grinned but watched Anders carefully. The other man’s eyes were still sad and aching. “Are you saying I’m driving you crazy?”

“I keep telling you not to fish for compliments.” Anders knocked their shoulders together, but didn’t draw away. Instead he leaned into Zach. “Asshole.”

“I’ve been called worse.” Zach put his arm around Anders and pulled him in, pressing a kiss to his temple. “How are you really?” he asked, lips against warm skin.

Anders wound his arms around Zach’s waist, clinging. “I feel like my whole world’s been destroyed and I’ve got nothing holding me together.”

Zach hugged Anders close. “Shh,” he whispered. “You’ve got Jackson and Bern, I think they could hold your world together. And I’m here too.”

“You keep that up, and I’ll try to keep you,” Anders finally said into Zach’s shoulder.

“I’m no one’s kept man,” Zach said lightly, still holding Anders close.
